This exquisite textile is 13.5 x 76 inches, including the fringe, and was handwoven on a backstrap loom by skilled artisans in the highlands of Guatemala. It can be used as a table runner or even cut and transformed into beautiful pillow covers. The colors are simply stunning.
Weaving on a backstrap loom is not an easy task. A woman wraps the strap of the loom around her waist and leans back to stretch it taut. As someone who has tried weaving on one several times, I have come to appreciate the technique and physical endurance required. I have so much admiration for the weavers!
