This textile is a stunning piece that measures 13.5 X 76 inches, including the fringe. It was woven on a backstrap loom in the highlands of Guatemala. This unique piece can be used as a table runner or can be cut to make beautiful pillow covers. The colors are truly incredible and make it a perfect addition to your home decor.
These textiles are created using a backstrap loom, where a woman fits the strap of the loom around her waist and leans back to stretch it taunt. It's not an easy task, and I have tried weaving on one several times. Through my experiences, I have come to appreciate the technique and physical endurance that it requires. I have a lot of respect for the weavers!
